Post-Graduate (PG) education plays a crucial role in creating highly skilled and knowledgeable professionals who can provide high-quality healthcare services and advance scientific research through their specialized training. PG courses are designed to equip students with in-depth knowledge, specialized skills, and practical experience in their chosen field of study. One such specialized course is the MS Obstetrics and Gynaecology program, which aims to standardize the teaching of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the PG level across the country. This, in turn, helps achieve uniformity in undergraduate teaching and produces competent obstetricians and gynecologists with appropriate expertise.

The MS Obstetrics and Gynaecology program prepares students to provide comprehensive care to women throughout their reproductive lives. The course includes theoretical and practical training in various aspects of obstetrics and gynecology, such as antenatal care, labor management, delivery techniques, neonatal care, contraception, and gynecological surgery. The program also emphasizes research and encourages students to undertake research projects to advance the field.

The purpose of this document is to provide illustrative guidelines to teachers and learners on achieving defined outcomes through learning and assessment. The document has been prepared by subject-content specialists and reviewed by the Reconciliation Board of the Academic Committee to ensure uniformity without compromising the purpose and content. The document contains "domains of learning" under the heading "competencies" to maintain the purity of the content, even if it requires some compromise in syntax.

The MS Obstetrics and Gynaecology program plays a critical role in improving women's health by providing competent healthcare professionals with specialized knowledge and skills. The standardized teaching of obstetrics and gynecology at the PG level ensures that there is uniformity in undergraduate teaching, resulting in the creation of skilled and knowledgeable obstetricians and gynecologists with the appropriate expertise. The guidelines provided in this document will help teachers and learners achieve the desired outcomes and contribute to the advancement of the field of obstetrics and gynecology.
