Strengths of the Department of Community Medicine at Santosh Medical College
Santosh Medical College was established in 1995 and has been running successfully for the last 25 years. The college has a well-established Community Medicine Department which has two MD seats as well as Ph.D. seats to its credit. Laboratory facilities:
A well-equipped research laboratory is available in the department for PG students pursuing MD and Ph.D. A few types of equipment are listed below-
Museum:
A well-stocked museum consisting of all relevant public health specimens and models is maintained by the department to aid in the teaching and training of students.
RHTC (Rural Health and Training Centre)-
UHTC (Urban Health and Training Centre)-
The department of Community Medicine actively participates and organises all events related to public health. The Department observes all national health days through various community activities and events like Swatchch Bharat Abhiyan, World Tuberculosis Day on 24th March, World Health Day on 7th April, Malaria Day on 25th April etc.
Other Outreach and Community Activities:
The Department has been holding various health camps in the whole district as part of its outreach activities for the past many years. Many awareness sessions are organised to make the community aware about the environmental and sanitation issues leading to various illnesses. The team of interns and health workers together sensitise the serving community regarding various public health problems and their community based solutions.

The Department was appreciated for participation in Pulse Polio Rally organised by CMO office in 2019 and by Indian Association of Preventive and Social Medicine for organizing IAPSM World Health Day Quiz 2019. The Department has also been recognized for its contribution in generating awareness among school children regarding various communicable and non-communicable diseases.
