ONLINE DEMONSTRATION: IMPROVE YOUR NIRF RANKINGS USING WEB OF SCIENCE

Central Research Unit, Santosh Deemed to be University organised online demonstration: Improve your NIRF Rankings using Web of Science on 03.12.2020, Thursday, 2.30 to 4.00 pm. It was an online activity on Microsoft teams platform. The meeting was attended by 33 participants.

Web of Science scholarly research publication metrics are incorporated in the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) and some of the top research evaluation and ranking frameworks in the world including Research Excellence Framework (REF) 2021, CWTS Leiden Rankings and Round University Ranking (RUR)

Web of Science is a world class multidisciplinary research citation indexing database trusted by 9000+ academic and research organizations around the world. These organizations leverage Web of Science to improve research activities in their institution. It enables researchers conduct quality scientific literature review, identify potential collaborators with impactful research performance in areas of interest, and track individual performance output, and author authoritative research articles.

Dr Subhashri Nag delivered the talk on behalf of Web of Science Platform. Following topics were covered-

• Citation analysis and reports, h-Index of authors & institutions ·
• Analysis of search results to find Top authors, journals, institutions, publications etc.
• Research output and impact on overall h-Index ·
• Impact Factor and its significance in research .
• How to select the best Journals for publishing your research paper ·
• Various search methods and refine search options ·
• Various methods of building a library in EndNote-world’s renowned reference management software ·
• Ways of finding the best-fit /most suitable journal for a manuscript ready for publishing ·
• Usage of Journal Citation Report

The talk and demonstration were followed by an interesting discussion on Kopernio, End note and predatory journals. Queries of all participants were individually addressed.
