International Workshop on Scientific Research Grant Writing

An International workshop was conducted on Scientific Research Grant Writing at Santosh Deemed to be University, Ghaziabad, Delhi-NCR under Dr. Padam Singh Research and Development Scheme in collaboration with Institute of Applied Statistics and Division of Epidemiology and Biostatistics, ICMR-NICPR from 10th December, 2020 to 12th December, 2020.

Ankit Singh and Ashish Gaur as National Co-coordinators and Dr. Jyoti Batra , Dean Research, Santosh Deemed to be University, as Regional Coordinator for Dr. Padam Singh Research and Development Scheme were actively involved along with their research team.

As per the guidelines of the scheme, the aim of the workshop is to provide step to step overview of the process of applying for research funding and will be most relevant to either a new academic joining a group or a young clinician wanting to establish their own research.

After completion of the workshop, the delegates will be able to find the effective research topic, locate potential funding sources, develop a budget, avoid common errors, turn limitation into strengths.

11 resource persons around the globe with research funding experience were very graciously accepted the invitation to deliver the expert talks on the above subject area. The details are as follows:

The Delegates who attended the workshop included Senior and Junior Faculty members, Ph.D scholars, Post-Graduates students from Medical, Dental, Nursing from all over the country. Vice-chancellor Dr. Tripta Bhagat inaugurated the workshop and declared that open. Dean Research Dr. Jyoti Batra welcomed all the guest faculty and interacted with delegates registered in workshop. The first session was chaired by Dr. K.C Aggarwal, Prof & HOD, Paediatrics. He welcomed Dr Navin Khanna, PadamShree 2020. After that Dr. Navin Khanna initiate the session by discussing the Tips for writing successful research grant proposals. The next talk was delivered by Dr Manushi Srivastava on how to setup aims, objective & methodology section in research grants. Writing Statistical Analysis Plan was briefly taken by Dr. L Satyanarayana.

Day-2 started by Dr Indranil Saha who shared the latest information about the Expected Outcomes, Reference Writing Research Ethic & Plagiarism. Understanding the financial aspects was discussed by Dr. Smita Asthana. Dr. Sanjay Batra shared the prominence of funding in establishing research excellence. Moreover, the final presentation was delivered by Dr. Sheeba Pakkan on the research metrics and funding opportunities.

Day-3 initiated with the topic on research and resources for funding in stem cell biology by Dr. Umadevi Kandalam. Good Clinical practices was discussed by Dr. Jaspreet Seth for clinical research. The workshop came to end with discussion on various topics by delegates individually and in groups.

Total 180 delegates participated in the workshop out of which 97 are in house delegates and 83 delegates from different universities and institutes Pan India.

The workshop was conducted under the supervision of Dr. Jyoti Batra, Dean Research, Santosh Deemed to be university, Ankit Singh and Ashish Gaur, National Co-coordinators, Dr. Padam Singh Research and Development Scheme and Central Research Team in coordination with Dr. Shubham Pandey, National Coordinator, Dr. Padam Singh Research and Development Scheme. Vote of thanks was delivered by Dr. Jyoti Batra, Dean Research and was declared closed.
