Dr. Sivanesan Dhandayuthapani

Dr. Sivanesan Dhandayuthapani, Ph.D, a Biochemist, has earned his Master in Biochemistry from one of the world's reputed Institution, the Annamalai University and Doctoral degrees from the Tamil University, India. Post- Doctoral Fellowship in the United States of America, where he served as Research Associate and Research Scientist in the Nova Southeastern University, Plantation, Florida & the Ohio State University, Columbus, Ohio for several years. Further he moved back to his home country and joined here at the esteemed Santosh Deemed to be University as Senior Research Associate in the year 2020. Seeing his commitment and sincerity towards his assignment, he is given a chance to be the Deputy Dean Research. Being a Santoshian, Dr. Dhandayuthapani is hand holding the faculty members, scholars and students in their journey of research. His efforts towards research and academia have been honored by securing not only intramural research funds but also receiving extramural research grant amounts for his groundbreaking research is one of the breakthroughs at Santosh. 

With his endeavors for 25+ years of research experience Dr. Dhandayuthapani has explored himself in the areas of terrestrial and marine natural products, dietary nutrients (Nutraceuticals) as potential chemo- preventive and/or therapeutic agents, and Small molecule inhibitors in both in vitro and in vivo models, pre-clinical studies using animal models, developing tumor xenograft models of experimental animals. As Principal and/or Co-Principal Investigator, he has completed several research projects funded by both intra- & extra-mural funding agencies of National/International levels. He has published more than 65 research and review articles in several journals of National and International repute. So far Dr. Dhandayuthapani's research publications have earned around 600 citations with a H-index of >13. To add on to his credit, he has attended more than 50 national/international seminars/conferences as delegate to showcase his research findings and/or resource person to deliver invited/guest lectures. He has also published two books and three chapters in edited volumes. 

Dr. Dhandayuthapani's Lab: Elucidation of Molecular Mechanistic Pathways; Angiogenesis, Primary & Metastatic Cancer; Cancer Cell Death processes; Marine and terrestrial anti-cancer therapeutics; Synthesized Small Molecule Inhibitors as Anti-Cancer Drugs. Furthermore, Dr. Dhandayuthapani is also experienced in identification of differentially expressed genes/proteins in cancer cells, which is an application of proteomics and cDNA micro array, cloning and functional analysis of novel apoptotic/drug-resistant genes in cancer cells and identification of biomarker for cancer diagnosis in clinical application along with his interest in tumor microenvironment and Immune Check-Point Inhibitors.
