  • Progress: Each candidate is expected to regularly participate in symposia, seminars, conferences, journal club meetings, grand rounds, clinicopathological conferences (CPC), case presentations, clinical sessions, and lectures as mandated by the department every year, and must not be absent from these activities without a valid reason.

  • Conduct:
    • Candidates enrolled in a postgraduate course are strictly prohibited from running, working in, or being associated with any clinic, laboratory, nursing home, or similar setup during the course of their study.
    • They are also not allowed to enroll in any other academic program or appear for examinations conducted by this or any other university in India during the period of their registration.

  • Punctuality: An MDS postgraduate student is expected to maintain discipline and be punctual, adhering not only to the college timetable but also to schedules in hospital clinics and laboratories.

    • It is essential for every student to be respectful, attentive, and fully engaged in the teaching-learning process. Instructions given by the postgraduate teacher, Head of the Department, or any competent authority must be strictly followed.

  • At the end of the course, the candidate must compile a summary of their training and get the Log Book duly certified by the Head of the Department.

Furthermore, each postgraduate should be encouraged to present scientific papers at conferences, refine their work, and aim to publish in reputed dental journals. The active support and motivation from the Head of the Department is vital to enhancing the research skills and academic growth of the postgraduate student.

Periodic tests:

  • Internal assessment tests may be conducted once every three months throughout the three-year course duration. These assessments should include: (i) theory, and (ii) practical/oral and viva components.
  • Over the span of the course, each department will conduct three main assessments—two of which will be annual exams: one at the end of the first year and the other at the end of the second year. The third assessment can be scheduled approximately three months before the final university examination.
  • The internal assessment (IA) marks of the candidate may be calculated based on the average of scores obtained in all these tests.
