Overview

With a proud legacy spanning 20 years, established in 1995 for BDS and 2005 for MDS, the Department of Periodontology and Oral Implantology has evolved into a leader in Dental education and innovative practices. In 2018, we introduced a PhD program in Integrated Implantology, enhancing our research capabilities. The department offers a coveted MDS and PhD program along with a DHC course providing excellent exposure to clinical procedures with a focus on special cases. It boasts a strong network of well-placed alumni and serves as the best platform to achieve national and international recognition. The department has increased its MDS seat to five per year from 2024 and has seen 31 MDS graduates pass out till date, with a current strength of 9 Post Graduate students.

Under the visionary leadership of Dr. Kanishk Gupta, our program is built on the foundation of rigorous academic training, hands-on clinical experience and groundbreaking research. We are particularly focused on the integration of advanced soft and hard tissue laser technologies, which have revolutionized the way we treat periodontal disease, perform surgeries and promote tissue regeneration. These lasers enable our students to perform minimally invasive procedures that reduce discomfort and recovery times, providing them with the tools needed to stay ahead in the field. Additionally, our program incorporates leading-edge techniques in dental implantology, revolutionizing the way we approach tooth replacement and periodontal care.

Research is at the heart of our department’s mission. We encourage both faculty and students to actively contribute to the scientific community through groundbreaking studies in areas such as Tissue Regeneration, Implantology and Laser Dentistry. Our state-of-the-art research facilities provide the ideal environment for exploring new frontiers in periodontal health and our faculty, many of whom are leading researchers in the field, offer invaluable mentorship to students who wish to pursue academic and clinical research.

Join us at the Department of Periodontics, where cutting-edge technology meets expert instruction and becomes a part of the future of periodontal medicine. Whether you’re aiming for a career in clinical practice or contributing to groundbreaking research, our program offers the tools and mentorship to help you succeed.
