Overview

M.Sc. Medical Pharmacology is a 3-year long postgraduate program that is being offered at Santosh Deemed to be University, Ghaziabad, UP. Basically, the programme aims to providing core knowledge of the principles and practice of pharmacology like the interaction of drugs with body cells and production of therapeutic response. M.Sc. Medical Pharmacology provides an in-depth and analytical model on the study of rehabilitation under the influence of drugs/ medicines. The course curriculum mainly covers tissue and organism pharmacology, cell and receptor pharmacology, and pharmacological effects of drugs on various organ system. The university is offering this program under the Department of Pharmacology based on percentage of marks obtained in qualifying degree/exams from a recognised Institution/ University. M.Sc. Medical Pharmacology involves teaching theory and practical aspects of General and Systemic Pharmacology, Toxicology, Instrumentation in Drug Analysis, Drug Development Process, Pharmacovigilance, Clinical Research, Research Methodology and Biostatistics, etc. These subjects cover almost all that is required for a M.Sc. Medical Pharmacology incumbent. After completing the course, students get M.Sc. Medical Pharmacology jobs like Pharmacologist, Clinical Research Associate, Research Scientist, and alike in sectors such as Hospitals, Research Colleges/ Universities, Pharmacovigilance services, etc.

• Student produced should have all the attributes of a competent pharmacologist with good theoretical knowledge and practical skills
• Students should be able to apply and integrate the basic knowledge into the various principles of pharmacology in scientific perspective with a widened view
• Students should be able to understand the fundamentals of basic research and further apply it in exploring opportunities to pursue advanced research
• Students should develop an ability to critically analyse scientific data, draw legitimate conclusions and application of this knowledge for evolvement of science
• Students should be able to imbibe and learn habit of learning throughout life to meet the advances in professional field by developing ethical, interpersonal and team skills

• Psychomotor domain:
  • Students will have the psychomotor skills and demonstrate the proper technique of practical pharmacology and various laboratory techniques other than pharmacology
  • Students will have skills in animal handling and short surgical procedure on them
  • Students will have sufficient exposure and skill development to run, manage and maintain laboratory equipment
  • Students will be adept at gathering current information on their own, and will be able to judge the quality of this information as it pertains to their area of expertise
