Dr. Rajkumar Prabhakaran
Dr. Rajkumar Prabhakaran is a Senior Research Associate at the Central Research Facility. Born in Gudalur, Tamil Nadu, he earned his Ph.D. in Biochemistry from Madurai Kamaraj University. With a strong foundation in biochemistry, Dr. Rajkumar's research spans a variety of cutting-edge fields, including bacterial biosensors for environmental pollution, miRNAs in cancer biology, food toxicology related to secondary metabolites and cancer, and the use of microalgae in oil blending for food applications. These diverse research interests reflect his commitment to addressing critical issues in health, environment, and sustainability.
Before his current role, Dr. Rajkumar served as an Assistant Professor for two years at Manonmaniam Sundaranar University in Tamil Nadu, India. He also gained practical industry experience as an Associate Scientist at VVD and Sons Pvt Ltd for a year, where he further honed his expertise in biochemistry and environmental sciences. His academic journey is highlighted by a robust publication record, with over 30 research articles in indexed journals, 9 copyrights, and 34 sequences submitted to NCBI. Dr. Rajkumar has also contributed to 7 books and book chapters, showcasing his wide-ranging impact in the academic community.
Dr. Rajkumar has completed three government-funded projects and is currently leading two ongoing internal research projects. Throughout his career, he has mentored and guided three students, helping shape the next generation of researchers in his field. His work, both in academia and industry, reflects his dedication to advancing scientific knowledge and applying it to solve real-world challenges.
