Workshop-Under Faculty Development Program


A workshop was conducted by the Central Research Facility on the Topic “How to catch Fake/Predatory/Cloned journals in Academics” In Hybrid Mode. Dean Research Dr Jyoti Batra Introduced the Speaker Dr Sumit Narula Deputy Dean Research (Publication & Citations) from Amity University Gwalior. Around 150 Faculty members, PhD, PGs actively partipated in the workshop.

  • • Dr Sumit Narula discussed about the difference between Predatory & Cloned Journals. He also Enlightened the gathering about how to check a particular journal through Scopus/PubMed/Web of Science & UGC Care List. Digital Object Identifier (DOI) number should be checked for the authenticity of the journal Indexing He also discussed about the directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ) as per NMC Guidelines and instructed all the faculty and students to first check the Meta Data before publishing in DOAJ Indexed Journals.

  • • He also suggested the methods to retract/delete digital foot print of a paper if published in a fake or Cloned Journal. So that the same can be Published in an Indexed Journal.

  • • Faculty and student had active interaction and shared the names of Journals to check their authenticity.

  • • The session was started at 2:30 pm and was over by 4:30 pm by thanking Dr Sumit Narula, Resource Faculty and the participants. E-Certificates will be issued to all Participants.

Curriculum Implementation Support Program


The Medical Education Unit of Santosh Medical College organised its First Curriculum Implementation Support Program in Medical Education Technology from 5th September to 7th september 2019, under the aegis of our Regional Centre, MAMC, New Delhi. Dr Sreenivas M, Convener, Department of Medical Education, MAMC was the MCI Observer for the workshop.


The curriculum committee members (Dr. Dakshina Bisht- Dept of Microbiology,Dr. Alka Agarwal- Dept. of Paediatrics, Dr. Yogesh Yadav- Dept. of Anatomy, Dr Shalabh Gupta-, Dept. of Surgery, Dr Virender Kumar Chokker- Dept. of Forensic Medicine) successfully completed the CISP workshop as resource faculty. There were 18 sessions in the CISP programme covering all the topics as per the format of the Medical Council of India. The three day schedule was distributed to all faculty members.



Faculty from Preclinical, Parclinical, Medicine & allied and surgery & allied branches were selected prior to the workshop 28 Faculty members who were registered attended the workshop. The participants were divided in to six groups for various activities.

The focus of the academic program began by Dr. Dakshina Bisht, MEU Coordinator, who briefed all the participants about the three days workshop and stressed upon the importance of competency based medical education (CBME). All the sessions were highly informative and appreciated by the participants and the MCI Observer keenly gave his expertise and shared teaching learning experience with the participants. The participants especially enthusiastically worked on the group activities which involved roles plays small group discussions etc. The group activities were planned in such a manner that linking of the goals to competency based education, along with specific learning objectives, teaching learning methods and assessment was achieved.

At the end of the third day, Valedictory function was organized with our Vice chancellor, Dr. Tripta Bhagat, Dean Dr. Gajender Kumar Gupta, and MCI Observer, Dr. Sreenivas M, each of them addressing the gathering. Participants were invited to share their experiences. At the end certificates were distributed to all the participants and the facilitators and the program concluded with the vote of thanks proposed by the coordinator MEU and group photograph.

Revised Basic Course Workshop


The Medical Education Unit of Santosh Medical College organised its first Revised Basic Course workshop (RBCW) in Medical Education Technology along with AETCOM sensitization program from 23rd July to 26th July 2019, under the aegis of our Regional Centre, MAMC, New Delhi. Prof. Poonam Loomba, Convener, Department of Medical Education, MAMC was the MCI Observer for the workshop.

Around 26 Faculty members were included for RBCW and AETCOM and 3 additional faculties for only AETCOM, where the participants had registered and attended. There were 13 sessions for RBCW and 8 sessions for AETCOM sensitization programme covering all the topics as per the format of the Medical Council of India.



These sessions were conducted by ten facilitators (Dr. Dakshina Bisht- Dept of Microbiology, Dr. Jyoti Batra- Dept. of Biochemistry, Dr. Alka Agarwal- Dept. of Paediatrics, Dr.Veenu Agarwal- Dept. of Paediatrics, Dr. Nisha Kaul- Dept. of Anatomy, Dr. Yogesh Yadav- Dept. of Anatomy, Dr Shalabh Gupt-, Dept. of Surgery, Dr. Rashmi Sharma- Dept. of Anaesthesia, Dr Neelima Agarwal- Dept. of OBs/GYN, Dr Virender Kumar Chokker- Dept. of Forensic Medicine, Dr. Deepika Aggarwal- Dept. of Community Medicine).

The four day academic program kicked off with an interesting and interactive session on Group dynamics facilitated by Dr. Dakshina Bisht, MEU Coordinator, who also briefed all the participants about the four days workshop and stressed upon the importance of faculty sensitization program. All the sessions were highly informative and appreciated by the participants and the MCI Observer too gave her expertise.The participants especially enthusiastically worked on the group activities.
