Prosthodontics is a specialized field of dentistry that focuses on the diagnosis, treatment planning, rehabilitation and maintenance of oral function, comfort, appearance and health. Prosthodontists use a variety of dental prostheses such as crowns, bridges, dentures and implants to restore or replace missing or damaged teeth and surrounding tissues.

Complete dentures are removable prosthetic devices that replace all the teeth in the arch. On the other hand, implant- supported prosthesis is a fixed restoration that is anchored to dental implants placed in the jawbone. Completely edentulous patients with no teeth in both maxillary and mandibular arches face difficulty in chewing, mastication as well as esthetics. Those patients benefited with a fixed or removable dental prosthesis. Hence, it is important to restore these patients with complete dentures or implant supported prosthesis so as to restore them and improve their oral health quality of life.

At Santosh Dental College, we provide customized dentures to edentulous patients that fit well and improve their quality of life as well as their smile. These are functional and aesthetic dental prostheses. As one of the best Prosthodontics colleges in Delhi NCR, we offer comprehensive evaluations and treatment planning, ensuring that each patient receives customized dentures that fit well and meet their individual needs and preferences.

Case Presentation

Patient named Meera Sethi, age 50, visited the Department of Prosthodontics, Santosh Dental College, with the chief complaint of loss of teeth in the upper and lower jaw and difficulty masticating food. The patient was also unsatisfied with the aesthetics of her previous dentures. She wanted new dentures. She asked to solve those problems with the suitable treatment, so after the examination we found that the most possible treatment is the construction of a complete denture. After the secondary impression is made and the occlusal rim is made, the next step is bite registration. After bite recording, the next step is to try it in stage. At this stage, you should check the retention and stability and extension of borders. Checking the occlusion is most important and is done by selective grinding to relieve any premature contact. After try-in, the last stage is delivery. In delivery, check for retention, stability, support, extension of border and occlusion.
