Biomedical Waste Management Training

  • 2022-11-21

Safe disposal of bio-medical waste is an issue of growing concern as it is one of the sources responsible for causing health hazards either directly or indirectly through contamination of soil, ground water, and air. The hospitals and nursing homes in our state conveniently dump the infectious as well as toxic wastes from their establishments into drains or within the premises without incinerating or disposing off thereby causing a potential threat to human life and the environment. Waste management should start from domestic level and everyone should have awareness about biomedical waste management.

Considering the above mentioned rationale of proper disposal of bio medical waste, Santosh Dental College and Hospital in collaboration with the Synergy Group of companies organized a training program for Biomedical Waste Management in Lecture Theatre 1 on 21/11/22, under the able guidance of Dean Dental Dr. Akshay Bhargava Sir. The program was coordinated by Dr. Priyanka Aggarwal (Professor) & Dr. Aruna Nautiyal (Senior Lecturer) from the Department of Periodontics & Oral Implantology. The importance of thebar code system for tracking of waste from source of generation to final destination for

the final treatment and disposal was emphasized upon. The guest speakers invited the faculty, PGs and non-teaching staff to visit the biomedical Waste management plant in Meerut to have a better understanding of waste disposal. It was an interactive and well conducted training.
