On February 28th, 2024, the Department of Biochemistry at Santosh Medical College and Hospital organized a one-day conference titled ‘Evidence Based Medicine and International Standard for Medical Laboratories (ISO 15189)’ in collaboration with the Association of Clinical Biochemists in India (ACBI), Uttar Pradesh Chapter. The event aimed to advance medical education and research while aligning with the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) guidelines for quality assurance.

Event Overview: The conference provided a platform for healthcare professionals, researchers, and students to exchange knowledge, discuss advancements in evidence-based medicine, and explore the implementation of ISO 15189 standards in medical laboratories. By focusing on academic excellence and adherence to international quality standards, the event aimed to contribute to the enhancement of healthcare delivery and research practices.

NAAC Guidelines Implementation: The conference meticulously followed NAAC guidelines by emphasizing various aspects:

  1. Quality Education: Through lectures, presentations, and interactive sessions, the conference aimed to enhance the quality of education in biochemistry and clinical medicine. Participants gained insights into evidence-based practices and international quality standards for medical laboratories, aligning with NAAC's emphasis on academic excellence.
  2. Research Culture: The event fostered a research culture by providing a platform for participants to present their research findings through oral and poster presentations. By encouraging scholarly activities and facilitating knowledge exchange, the conference promoted research-driven learning and contributed to the advancement of knowledge in the field.
  3. Infrastructure and Resources: The venue, Maharaja Hall at SMCH, provided a conducive environment for learning, collaboration, and networking.   4. Student Participation: With 176 pre-registrations and 20 on-spot registrations, the conference witnessed significant student engagement, reflecting NAAC's emphasis on student-centric learning. Sessions dedicated to students and delegates encouraged active participation, enabling them to interact with experts and peers and gain valuable insights into the field.
