CME on World Health Day Celebration

Department of Medicine, Santosh Medical College conducted a departmental CME in collaboration with Delhi Diabetic forum on the occasion of "World Health Day". It is celebrated annually and each year draws attention to a specific health topic of concern to people all over the world. The date of 7 April marks the anniversary of the founding of WHO in 1948.The theme of this year World Health Day is “Our planet, our health”

The welcome address was given by Dr. Ashok Kumar, HOD General Medicine, SMCH and he welcomed Guest of Honour Dr. Alpana Agarwal, Registrar, Santosh University and Dr. Sushil Gaur, Medical Superintendent Santosh Hospital. Dr. Alpana Agarwal addressed the gathering and highlighted the importance of environment and Health. The CME started thereafter with the program already circulated. Dr Shivani Bansal, Professor Medicine enlightened everyone about the theme of world health day " our planet our health”, overview and introduction of world health day and the need to depollute the planet to stop increasing diseases like Cancer, Asthma and Heart disease. Dr Ashok Kumar explained in detail about “Environment and Diabetes”. As we all know Diabetes in one of the most common non communicable disease which has multiple aetiologies and role of Environment as Causal factor still not control. Our surrounding environment may have multiple effects in control of this condition and on occurrence of new cases of Diabetes indirectly. The Speech was very well articulated by Dr. Ashok through presentation about Diabetes and Environment association, workup, timely intervention and detailed summary of the topic. Dr. Neelima Aggarwal Professor, Obstetrics & Gynecology, explained in detail about women’s health and covered all the aspects of women health and its importance in modern world. The talk on health day is incomplete without the discussion on mental health and Dr Rani Srivastava, Professor, Clinical Psychology talked in detail about mental health and its impact on society. Students of Dietetics & Clinical nutrition under Guidance of Deepshikha, Lecturer & Nutritionist made and displayed the theme related posters on the wall of CME hall. The CME was also successful with the equal participation of Chairpersons Dr KC Agrawal, Head of Dept. of Paediatrics, Dr. Manisha Gupta, Professor, Obstetrics & Gynecology ,Dr. Juhi Agarwal HOD, Department of Biochemistry and Dr. Brijesh Saran, Assistant Professor - Department of Psychiatry, in presence of post graduates and interns at Santosh hospital Ghaziabad, NCR. The CME was coordinated by Dr. Ranjum Chaudhary, Assistant Professor, Department of General Medicine. The CME was attended and appreciated by more than 100 Students, Post graduate student and faculties from all the Clinical Departments.
