Diabetes Education program Conducted on 27th July 2022

On 27 July 2022, Department of General Medicine, Santosh medical college and Hospital, Ghaziabad, conducted a seminar on “Diabetes Education program on Insulin Therapy for Nurses and Staff of the Santosh Hospital.”

The program started with the welcome speech by Dr. Sushil Gaur, Medical Superintendent. Session started with Lecture of Dr. Ashok Kumar, Professor & Head of the Department in which he emphasizes the growing burden of Diabetes Mellitus which is becoming commonest non communicable disease and become silent killer if not recognised, diagnosed and managed timely. Nursing and support staffs are the pillars in the management of the diabetes mellitus as a part of multidisciplinary team caring diabetic patient. He also address about awareness about prevention, Diagnosis, consequences of uncontrolled Diabetes and guided us about how to stop it before it started. Insulin therapy is an integral part in the management of Type 1 Diabetes and in later stages of Type 2 diabetes when management of hyperglycemia become challenging with oral Medicines. He also motivates the participants about the importance of dietary habits need to be followed to prevent DM. Next Session was elaborated by Professor, Dr. Shivani Bansal in which she explained about the Different Types of insulin and Action of insulin, how to use Insulin Cautiously. She also guide us to be ‘proactive every day to keep diabetes at bay’ and also addresses us to manage well and live well. Also there has been a demonstration of insulin delivery devices and proper injection techniques to the participants. Program was successfully completed with the equal participation of speakers, Chairpersons and Delegates. Around 50 nursing staff and students participated in this program. The program ended with thanks to all the participants.
