Recent Guidelines on Management of Hypertension

Department of Medicine conducted a Departmental CME on “Recent Guidelines on management of Hypertension” on 26th October 2023 at Santosh Medical College and Hospital. The lecture was given by Professor and Head of Department , Department of General Medicine, Dr. Ashok Kumar in which he meticulously discussed the recent guidelines for management of Hypertension. The lecture was highly enlightening and started with discussion regarding the classification and staging of Hypertension according to latest JNC Classification and American Heart Association. The lecture then progressed to discuss the various secondary causes of hypertension ,and microvascular and macro vascular complications. Dr. Ashok Kumar then went to discuss the various types of anti hypertensives , their mode of action indications and contra indication .He then shed light on the more commonly uses ARB and Calcium
channel blockers fixed dose combinations. The was attended by around 50 people including faculty members , postgraduates and undergraduate students. The CME was very well received for being highly engrossing and insightful.
