The main objective of conducting this program was to orient undergraduate students about detailed description of Tongue Crib appliance, its indication, contraindication and factors to be considered before selecting a habit breaking appliance in Pediatric Dentistry in Santosh Dental College.
The Skill Conclave was conducted by Department of Pediatric and Preventive Dentistry on the topic Break the Habit : Habit Breaking Appliance (tongue crib) on 2nd November, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 pm.
The conclave started with the PowerPoint presentation and lecture taken by Dr. Nidhi Gupta on Introduction and Basics of habit breaking appliances used in Paediatric Dentistry followed by detailed description of tongue crib appliance, its indication, contraindication and factors to be considered before selecting a space maintainer, case selection, its construction and modification was described in detail.
The presentation was followed by hands on by Dr. Rashi Singh demonstrating fabrication of tongue crib appliance. It started with the brief description of armamentarium used, it's clinical importance, methods to handle the instrument, fabrication of crib on tooth, uses of welding machine, followed by c clasp formation. A brief demonstration about soldering was also given.
All attendees were given a chance to fabricate tongue crib on individual level and submission for same was also made in the department.
