The objective of the event was to train students and staff regarding the technical aspects of Blood Centre for continuous growth and quality improvement.
• On 11 January 2024, a training seminar was presented by Dr Arun Tintoo JR 1 which focused on the donor selection criteria.
• On 15 January 2024, biomedical waste management was discussed by Mr Manjula, ICN, of Santosh Hospitals. She gave hands-on training on biomedical waste management and how & where different types of waste generated in the blood centre should be discarded. It was an interactive session.
• On 16 January 2024 at 10 am, Dr. Amit Varma took a demonstration class about how to operate an IH-500 & talked about the basic operating protocols and on/off procedures.
• On 16 January 2024 at 2:00 pm, Ms Manjula, ICN discussed the protocol of needle stick injury and its prevention and also talked about what one should do after a needle stick injury.
• On 24 January 2024 training program was conducted for the nursing staff of the hospital and Blood bank staff to bridge the gap in communication regarding the processes and procedures related to the transfusion services. Basics like blood request forms, consent, sample collection, transportation and transfusion monitoring were discussed.
• On 25 January 2024 training on donor motivation, recruitment, registration & donor screening was taken by Dr Mayurika Tyagi
