Overview

 

Established in 2011, the Department of Respiratory Medicine has rapidly evolved into a center of excellence, offering a comprehensive range of services and postgraduate training. Initially starting with 1 MD and 1 DTCD seat, the department expanded to 2 MD seats in 2020 and 5 MD seats in 2022. To date, we have successfully graduated 20 postgraduate students.
Our department stands out for its commitment to advanced education and patient care. We offer a Fellowship Program in Interventional Pulmonology, initiated in 2023, with 2 seats per session, alongside 2 PhD seats since 2012. Additionally, we provide value-added courses in Inhalation Therapy and Thoracic Ultrasound.
We specialize in personalized management of respiratory conditions through our dedicated Asthma and COPD Clinic and an Interstitial Lung Disease (ILD) Unit, focusing on diseases like pulmonary fibrosis and sarcoidosis. Our advanced bronchoscopy services include techniques like Endobronchial Ultrasound (EBUS) for both diagnostic and therapeutic interventions.
Our department is actively involved in clinical trials aimed at exploring novel therapies for asthma, COPD, and ILD, and we also run a Post-COVID Clinic to assist patients with lingering symptoms. Furthermore, our Pulmonary Rehabilitation program is tailored to improve lung function and quality of life, especially for those recovering from chronic lung diseases.
Our alumni are successfully contributing as faculty members in esteemed medical institutes, reinforcing our reputation for excellence in respiratory medicine.

To sensitize the patients and the general public about the rising problem of obstructive sleep apneas and its management.

Valuable & affordable best services have been provided for 25yrs by the Institute and Hospital to the people of Ghaziabad. The department has enriched their research with more than 40 publications in a year supported by intramural and extramural funding to raise the interest of students in ethical research.

  1. World TB Day was celebrated on 23rd March 2018. The lecture was is given by Dr. K B Gupta Who is Chairman of State Task Force (STF) for RNTCP Haryana since 2004. District TB Officer,Ghaziabad, Dr. JP Srivastava was in invited as chairperson for Inaugural function &CME on  World TB Day.
  2. Recently participated in Recent STF (State Task Force), 3rd Quarter report 2018 & RNTCP RNTCP Regional/ZTF (Zone Task Force) Review Meeting State, Uttar Pradesh which was held in Dec 2018.
  3. State Task Force – (TB control) Meeting – Revised National Tuberculosis Programme– Participation of Faculty as representatives of the Institute on 4th Oct 2019.
  4. Core-committee meeting was Organised by the Pulmonary Medicine Department, Santosh Medical  College & Hospital on 13th Sept 2019.
