Departmental Goals

  • Medical education-   To provide up to date knowledge of pulmonary pathology to graduate & postgraduate students while retaining focus on basic concepts. To make them leaders in education and research in relation to respiratory diseases. Postgraduate students are motivated to attend various conferences & CME’s & do poster presentations at various conferences.
  • Research-   To develop and promote research attitude in the department including postgraduates, regularly publishing articles in reputed national & international journals.
  • Services-  To be the center of quality pulmonary healthcare, accessible and affordable for all sections of society. To strengthen public awareness about smoking and its health hazards. To sensitize the patients and the general public about the rising problem of obstructive sleep apneas and its management.

  2. EBUS
  3. PFT with FENO
  4. Regular training in Critical Care Medicine
  5. To Start DM in Pulmonary Medicine & Critical Care Medicine
  6. To involve PG Students in Research Activities under WHO, ICMR, and other State and Central Government projects.

  • DOTS centre– We have access to DOTS centre within the hospital itself to help in providing Patients with easy access to Antitubercular medications and other services like Sputum Microscopy, CBNAAT, etc.under RNTCP.

Camps– Both indoor & outdoor camps are there for improved benefits to patients.  Indoor camps include PFT camps where PFT is done for free. Outdoor camps include visiting nearby settlements and providing the people with free check-ups and medications

Events & Announcements


  1. International pulmonary update” was organized in association with NJH USA in Oct 2014.
  2. Workshops were conducted & Lecture was delivered on sleep study by Vipin Malick.

Various International speakers Prof.Make, Prof.Martin & Prof.Daley, were involved in it.

  1. Free consultancy is provided to the state under the DOTS programme.
  2. ZTF workshop in RNTCP at Dharamshala and 16 up STF conference and international pulmonary workshop are our proud moments.
  3. Poster presentation & One International publication was done of European Respiratory Society-Amsterdam, 2015, Topic:” Emerging Applications- Screening OSA by modified pictorial Epswort sleepiness scale in Indian Subject “Android software application developed indigenously in the department. Copyright has been attained.
  4. Webinar on De-escalation of Antibiotics & Community-Acquired Pneumonia 2017.
  5. CME on lung cancer by Dr. Arjun Pandey, consultant in Yashoda Hospital.
  6. Workshop on sleep study 2017 by the consultant of Philips division.
  7. CME on pulmonary rehabilitation in COPD patients in collaboration with the physiotherapy department 2017.
  8. CME on swine Flu by various renowned national faculties like Dr. Rakesh Chawla who is chairperson of Indian Chest Society (north)
  9. World TB Day was celebrated on 23rd March 2018. The lecture was is given by Dr. K B Gupta Who is Chairman of State Task Force (STF) for RNTCP Haryana since 2004. District TB Officer,     Ghaziabad, Dr. JP Srivastava was in invited as chairperson for  Inaugural function &CME on  World TB Day.
  10. Recently participated in Recent STF (State Task Force), 3rd Quarter report 2018 & RNTCP RNTCP Regional/ZTF (Zone Task Force) Review Meeting State, Uttar Pradesh which was held in Dec 2018.
  11. State Task Force – (TB control) Meeting – Revised National Tuberculosis Programme– Participation of Faculty as representatives of the Institute on 4th Oct 2019.
  12. Core-committee meeting was Organised by the Pulmonary Medicine Department, Santosh Medical  College & Hospital on 13th Sept 2019.
  13. CME was conducted on “Recent Updates in RNTCP” by the Department of Pulmonary Medicine of Santosh Medical College & Hospital for sensitization of faculty, PG students and interns about RNTCP on the 13th of Sept 2019.
  14. Case Presentation of some interesting case of Surgical Emphysema due to Tracheal Rupture on 25th Sept 2019 by Department of Pulmonary Medicine of Santosh Medical College & Hospital.
  15. World Pollution Awareness Programme on 18th Nov 2019.
  16. Value-added certificate course in pulmonary function testing (spirometry) in the department from 2020 ( Announcement).
