Department Objectives

  • Our surgical care team guidance aims to help surgeons and other healthcare professionals develop models of care that utilize the surgical care team in a consistent manner. 
  • It sets out distinct extended roles within the surgical team, and outlines competencies, training and clear routes of entry into these roles. 
  • The ultimate aim of this work is to enhance the quality of patient care, patient experience and patient safety, to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of services, and to support the quality and experience of surgical training.

Facilities


Facilities of the General Surgery Department in a Santosh Deemed to be University may include:

  1. Operating Theaters: Well-equipped operating theaters with state-of-the-art surgical instruments and technology to perform a wide range of surgical procedures. These theaters should adhere to strict infection control protocols to ensure a sterile environment.
  2. Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU): A dedicated SICU equipped with advanced monitoring systems and specialized nursing staff to provide intensive care to post-operative patients. This unit should be capable of managing critically ill patients requiring close monitoring and specialized interventions.
  3. Outpatient Clinics: Outpatient clinics where patients can receive pre-operative assessments, post-operative follow-up care, and consultations with surgical specialists. These clinics should provide a comfortable environment for patients and have diagnostic facilities such as imaging and laboratory services.
  4. Diagnostic Imaging: Advanced imaging facilities such as X-ray, computed tomography (CT) scan, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), and ultrasound to aid in the diagnosis and pre-operative planning of surgical cases.
